Meeting minute books, correspondence, memoranda, press bulletins, financial materials, reports, contracts, briefs, grievances, pamphlets, brochures, newspaper clippings, and other records from the United Furniture Workers of America, Chicago offices that managed affairs of Midwest districts and some locals. Includes the working files of Local 18-B in Chicago (Ill.), as well as records of District 6 (Indiana), District 7 (Michigan), and District 8 (Illinois and Wisconsin). Materials relate to political and union elections, policies, meetings, and conventions. Much of the correspondence is written by Sam P. Sloan, treasurer and later president of Local 18-B. Also present are materials dealing with the United Furniture Workers of America Insurance Fund.
